Hito, Intercambiador Acart, La Alhóndiga, Residencia de Estudiantes, Rural C and Sierra added to Art Motile's AIR Database.

Hito is a cross-border network of artistic residencies in the regions of Aragón Pyrenees, Aquitaine and Midi-Pyrenees. This network aims to involve local communities in the participation of artistic activity, while promoting international cultural exchanges including exchanges between French artists staying in residential areas of northern Spain, and Spanish artists developing their residencies in areas of southern France. Image of Intercambiador

Intercambiador Acart is a cultural association based in Madrid that promotes an exchange programme between Spanish and foreign artists. The association was founded and is coordinated by an artist collective, with the goals of increasing resources for artistic practice and establishing international relations with other artists and associations. Image of La Alhondiga

The Alhóndiga Bilbao residency programme offers a scholarship for comic artists in collaboration with La Maison des Auteurs in Angoulême, France. The AlhóndigaKomik scholarship provides free accommodation and an equipped workshop for up to one year, and aims to promote the emergence of new talents in the field of comics. To this end, it offers funding for the completion of a project selected for its artistic values and innovative character. Read more about the Alhóndiga Bilbao residency programme here.

Image of Residencia de Estudiantes

With past residents including such well-known Spanish artists as Salvador Dalí, Luís Buñuel and Federico García-Lorca, Residencia de Estudiantes in Madrid has a long history as a centre for art. Between 1910 and 1939 it was one of the main centres for scientific and educational modernisation in Spain and now, every year, nearly 3,000 researchers, artists and professionals from all over the world are welcomed there. Rural C / Rural Contemporánea is a non-profit association which was legally constituted in January 2011, although projects have been developed since 2002. Directed by professional specialists in cultural agitation and working from different venues around Spain, it involves citizens' associations in developing socio-cultural activities and networking in rural areas. Its main objective is to promote contemporary art in rural environments, creating networks with other rural and urban areas at a regional, national and international level. Image of Sierra

Located in the heart of the Sierra de Huelva in Andalucía, close to the border with Portugal, Sierra Centro de Arte is a permanent space for creating art and experimenting with artistic media. The centre is dedicated to the production, exhibition, and teaching of experimental cross-media art practices, while promoting training and research. A meeting point for artistic proposals, the local population and the rural environment of Andalucía, Sierra welcomes local and international artists to participate in its programme. AIR ARRAY: Meeting of AIR Programmes and Mobility Workshop for Artists

Art Motile and Matadero Madrid present AIR ARRAY, a three-day event focused on artist in residence programmes and artist mobility. The event consists of two main activities: a two-day meeting for AIR programmes and a half-day mobility workshop for artists. The event will take place on the 9th, 10th and 11th of March 2015 at Matadero Madrid and Casa de Velázquez - Académie de France à Madrid.
