The Residencia de Estudiantes was founded in Madrid in 1910 with the mission of complementing university education by fostering an exciting intellectual and living environment for its students. It strongly encouraged constant dialogue between science and the arts, welcomed avant-garde ideas from abroad and became a focal point for spreading modernity in Spain.

Nowadays, the Fellowship Program is an essential element in the preservation of the original vocation and spirit of the Residencia. Over 100 young researchers and artists have already obtained grants awarded jointly by the Madrid City Council, the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC) and the Residencia.

Please note that only Spanish and Ibero-American artists may apply for these grants.

Deadline:

5th of January 2012, at 14:00.

Residency Period:

12 months, with the possibility to extend.
