The Roberto Cimetta Fund is an international non-profit organisation created in 1999 to respond rapidly and directly to artists and cultural managers seeking to travel in order to develop artistic co-operation projects in the Euro-Mediterranean region, and in particular throughout the Arab world.

Applicants must be artists or professionals working in the cultural sector, living and working in the Euro-Mediterranean zone. There is no age restriction. The trip must contribute to cultural development at a local level in southern or eastern Mediterranean countries. The candidate must develop local initiatives or policies on his or her return that contribute to the cultural dynamism of their own country or region. They must be committed to transmitting the benefits of their experience abroad to other artists and professionals in their region through the development of new networks.

The programme is open to the following artistic and cultural fields, either within transdisciplinary or monodisciplinary projects: contemporary performing arts (new theatrical forms; new writing for theatre; drama; contemporary dance; circus and street performances in situ; puppet theatre and inter-disciplinary projects), visual arts (including photography, film, digital art and video art), literature and other cultural projects.

The purpose of the trip must be one of the following: to prepare an art or cultural project; to take part in a residency; to take part in a meeting of artists and professionals with the aim of networking or encouraging links between cultural, artistic and development actors in the Mediterranean; to participate in artistic training (such as master classes or workshops); to participate in professional training (in cultural policy or cultural management for example) either as a trainee or as a teacher; to take part in debates, conferences and seminars.
