HAC is a public AIR programme that provides grants for residencies at the Municipal Centre of Culture in Castelló in Valencia, Spain.

They have announced the 2012 - 2013 edition of their call for six artists to produce an artistic project in the discipline of painting: three artists of Spanish nationality who are resident in the province of Castelló and three foreign artists not residing in Spain.

Applicants must have demonstrable experience, be aged between 23 and 40 years at the date of application and be fluent in Spanish.

The maximum amount of each scholarship will be €9,600 for foreign artists, paid monthly at a rate of €1,600 for a period of 6 months between November 2012 and April 2013.

For artists from Castelló, up to €6,900 will be provided, also paid monthly at a rate of €1,150.

Costs related to travel, accommodation and maintenance during the scholarship, as well as materials needed for the development of the project, shall be borne by the artists.

The programme offers selected artists insurance to cover accidents for the duration of their stay, although it is important to note that this is not full health coverage.

Applications will be evaluated on the quality of the project, as well as the CV and academic qualifications of the applicants, by a committee comprised of two representatives from the Municipality and five art and culture experts.

The main activities for each granted artist will be to develop an artistic project, to participate in scheduled activities at the Culture Center of Castelló, to create and implement activities parallel to the art project, and to exchange experiences with other fellow artists. At the conclusion of the scholarship there will be a month-long group show of artworks produced.

27th August 2012.
