SingCat define themselves as a project dedicated to artistic research and dissemination for the purpose of inspiring cultural dialogue, while creating cultural synergies between Singapore and Catalonia. Its aim is to bring together the visual arts of these two distinct cultures through research, lectures and workshops.

The SingCat grant encourages the mobility of visual artists living in Catalonia and fosters an exchange with Southeast Asian artists. All visual artists that currently reside in Catalonia are eligible.

The selected artist will reside for five weeks in Grey Projects' space in Singapore. Likewise, an artist from Singapore will live for five weeks in Nau Côclea, in Camallera. The residence must be started at latest by December 10, 2012.

The grant provides €2,000 for maintenance, medical insurance, local transportation and costs of artistic production. It also covers flights to and from Barcelona and Singapore. Grey Projects and Nau Côclea will be responsible for accommodation and the work space for artists received.

Interested artists who wish to apply for the grant must submit a research project to develop in Singapore. At the end of the stay the artist will show the work in a public presentation.

The jury selection for Singapore 2012 will comprise: David Santaeulària, independent curator; Mariona Vilaseca, artist and recipient of the grant in 2011; Irene Jimeno on behalf of SingCat; and Clara Garí on behalf of Nau Côclea. This jury will shortlist three projects. The jury appointed by Grey Projects in Singapore will make the final selection of the winning artist.

Deadline:

June 30th 2012.
