Projects should aim to utilise the abundance of naturally occuring materials at Joya: arte + ecología within the Parque Natural Sierra María-Los Vélez as well as the physical landscape.

Proposals must substantiate the effects of light, either positively or negatively, on the ecology and consequently highlight the ramifications of climate change for the rest of the EU.

The artist selected will be provided with a 30 square metre studio and twenty hectares of land for a period of two weeks to develop a project. The award also includes accommodation, meals and travel costs within Europe (not including lodging while in transit). Winners from outside Europe can have their travel expenses paid for once they are within the EU.
