ABOUT THE RESIDENCY:

La Postiza, centre for art production and critical thinking, opened its doors on June 20th, 2014, and since then has focused on the production and dissemination of the latest in contemporary art, offering work space and exhibitions, primarily for emerging artists. It also presents other cultural activities such as concerts, plays, craft markets, literary events, performances, and so on. Parallel to the activities in its own space, the programme organises other public and private spaces in the centre of Murcia and also participates in events coordinated by other groups and associations. Its AIR programme for national and international artists aims to support the creation and development of artistic proposals, while providing adequate space for experimentation.

The programme collaborates with the University of Murcia and with Cultural Centre Puertas de Castilla, of which it is resident, in addition to the School of Arts and other public and private spaces.

LOCATION:

La Postiza is in an authentic traditional house in the neighbourhood of La Cueva in Murcia, at the foot of the famous Moorish castle of Monteagudo. It has a small yard with olive and fig trees and an imposing sacred laurel tree. A simple and quiet place, its rural setting is only fifteen minutes from the city centre by car or public transport. The centre can also be reached by bicycle, although there are no proper bike lanes, only paths.

The kitchen and hot water run on butane gas. Bedrooms have electric heating and there is a fireplace in the living room. There is a 100m² garden and a total of 500m² outdoor space.

Studios: The work space is 100m² and has basic equipment, with desks, shelves, drawing board, etc.
