ABOUT THE RESIDENCY:

The residency programme Línea de Costa AIR is a new initiative by Línea de Costa, a non-profit cultural organisation based on the coast of Cádiz, Spain. The programme aims to stimulate creativity through interaction between artists and cultural institutions and the local environment (social, spatial and cultural), while at the same time promoting inter-cultural relations between visiting artists and local art community.

LOCATION:

The artists studios are located in the Contemporary Creation Space ECCO in Cádiz, situated in a former 18th century barracks which has been converted into a cultural center.

FACILITIES:

Accommodation: The artists are housed in private rooms in a comfortable, fully-equipped shared apartment, strategically located in the city and close to the studios and the cultural, commercial and entertainment district.

Studios: Work spaces can accommodate four artists simultaneously and feature:

A roof terrace and multi-functional space (165m²) with views of the sea;
Separate workspace within a large co-working area where each artist has a large table, chairs, storage space, natural and artificial lighting and sockets;
Common space for breaks and gatherings (conference table and chairs, microwave, kettle, fridge);
Wireless Internet access;
Materials and equipment: projector; screen; scanner/printer; three TV monitors (1 small and 2 large); 2 DVD players; midi 4 octave keyboard; various stationery supplies; various tools; halogen lamps (500 watts); compressor and airbrush; portable pottery wheel; ceramic oven; two easels.

Access / Artists with families: The studios are suitable for people with reduced mobility, however the apartment is not. In these cases the artist can pay a reduced fee and seek alternative accommodation. The programme is not suitable for artists travelling with family.

STAYING THERE:

Duration of stays: From one to six months.

Cost: €600 per month.

Grants: None.

Selection Procedure: By open call. The programme is aimed at artists of any discipline and nationality. Artists based in the city of Cádiz or in the province are not eligible to apply for a residency at Línea de Costa AIR. Proposals will be selected based on their quality, their coherence with the artist's career and the ability of the project to interact positively with the local people. The programme will consider positively projects developed specifically during the residency, and those that include a workshop or activity including the local community.

Languages: Spanish, English and Italian.
