ABOUT THE RESIDENCY:

The Museum of Contemporary Art Gas Natural Fenosa (MAC) is a multi-disciplinary artistic and cultural centre in A Coruña, Spain. The museum, comprising a 8,000m² space, began its activity in 1995 with the mission of supporting artistic creation through various training and international mobility programmes for artists. In addition to these programs, the museum is involved in an intense process of acquisition of artworks for its collection.

MAC's residency programme aims to support artists and cultural workers, foster investigation and innovation in the arts, and contribute to international artist mobility and exchange.

MAC is located in A Coruña, Galicia in Spain.

FACILITIES:

Accommodation: MAC doesn't provide accommodation for artists on their premises but do support the granted artists to find a place to stay.

Studios: Fully furnished studio with wi-fi internet connection on the museum premises.

Access / Artists with families: The space is suitable for people with reduced mobility. Artists travelling with families should contact the programme directly for information.

STAYING THERE:

Duration of stays: Two months.

Cost: None.

Grants: MAC offers two types of grants: one for local artists based in Galicia and another for international artists based in the rest of Spain and Latin America. The grants includes:

The use of a studio at MAC for two months.
Financial support of €3,900 for the International AIR Programme recipients (€500 for transport which will be transferred on acceptance of the residency, €1,500 for the first month, €1,500 for the second month, and €400 after delivery of the report and justification of production costs).
Financial support of €1,600 for Local AIR Programme recipients (€600 for the first month, €600 for the second month, and €400 after delivery of the report and justification of production costs).
Lunch from Monday to Thursday at MAC’s canteen.

Selection Procedure: Public open call. Selection criteria:

The originality and/or innovating character of the artistic project (50%);
the suitability of the project to the resources and the context in which it will be developed (30%);
the CV or career trajectory of the applicant (20%).

The selection committee is chaired by the director of the Museum of Contemporary Art Gas Natural Fenosa . The committee comprises arts professionals who collaborate with the museum and one or more artists who have benefited from the same residency programme.
