ABOUT THE RESIDENCY:

Antic Teatre is a cultural and social centre located in the heart of Barcelona, in a building dating from 1650 and designated as a cultural heritage. A pillar of the city's independent performance scene, Antic Teatre is a resource centre for multi-disciplinary arts and the research and development of new artistic languages. Its mission is to build and support the capacity for experimentation, production, exhibition, promotion and dissemination of professional artists. It's committed to finding new languages for body and movement, new dramatic forms and new technologies to prevent repetition of learned techniques and methodologies.

Operating in parallel to Antic Teatre is AdriAntic, the research, creation, and residency centre located in the neighborhood of Sant Adrià de Besòs. AdriAntic offers a space for artistic residencies and hosts productions and shows, allowing artists to perform without being subject to market pressure, thereby driving innovation and risk. Creators and companies are offered exclusive availability of space with the convenience of not having to take down sets after each work session, and are given absolute freedom of access times and use of space.

There are two types of residencies at AdriAntic:

Research and creation residency: These residencies allow artists to explore, experiment and question the established conventions of the stage. These residences do not necessarily have to end with a final creation or public production.

Creation and production residency: These residences occur after the research process, when the idea has taken shape and begins to find a structure. These residences end with a creation or production displayed in Antic Teatre.

FACILITIES:

Studios: AdriAntic is located in an industrial neighbourhood in Sant Adrià de Besòs. The studio consists of a large main space of 490m² and 4.20m² high, in an L-shaped layout with one end closed off as a warehouse. There are two toilets, fluorescent lights throughout the space, and four bands of reversible linoleum (gray / black) of approximately 10m in length. It has direct access to an elevator for people and a forklift for scenery, with an entrance for trucks.

Access / Artists with families: The space at AdriAntic is not accessible to people with reduced mobility (the elevator starts on the first floor). However, Antic Teatre is fully accessible. Both AdriAntic and Antic Teatre welcome artists with families.
